International School Award 2018-2021

In this era of globalisation, it is of overriding importance to integrate International Dimension while educating the future citizens. Keeping this in mind, under the able leadership of our esteemed Principal, Dr. NeeruSuman and expert guidance of our Academic Co-ordinator Dr. Shweta Singh, K.R. Mangalam World School, GK1 contested for the prestigious ‘International School Award’ by the British Council for the third time in a row. A team of 14 teachers, under the guidance of ISA Co-ordinator Ms. AmitaGulati, won the award with a 100% score of 49/49 points. Students from classes Pre-primary to Class-X were involved and they successfully collaborated with their counterparts from USA, Egypt, Lebanon, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Srilanka for a number of activities.

K.R. Mangalam World School, GK1 has been conferred the British Council International School Award for a period of three years from 2018-2021. The award was presented at the award ceremony organised by British Council on 5^th December, 2018. Dr.Shweta Singh, Academic Co-ordinator and Ms AmitaGulati, ISA Coordinator, received the award on behalf of the school.

The award has been bestowed upon the school for effectively implementing international ethos into its curriculum during the session 2018-2019. The International School Award scheme (ISA) by the British Council aims at imparting knowledge through collaboration with a partner school abroad. Every project involved was related to the curriculum.

The British Council International School Award recognizes commitment to developing the qualities of global citizenship in young people. It prepares young people in increasing their understanding of other countries and cultures and embedding international learning in the curriculum. The Award provides a platform for teachers to develop themselves professionally by adding an international dimension to their skills. It enables them to adopt the best teaching practices and standards from other countries. The ISA logo demonstrates that our school has espoused international practices in the institution and has wholeheartedly embraced progressive teaching tools being used globally. The logo can be used in all the publicity materials, stationery, certificates, websites, almanac etc.

British Council International School Award 2015-18

K.R. Mangalam World School, GK1 has been conferred the British Council International School Award 2015-18, for the second consecutive time. The award was presented at the ceremony held in Mumbai on 19th November, 2015. Mrs. Jaya Ganguli, ISA Coordinator received the award on behalf of the school. The award has been bestowed upon the school for effectively implementing international ethos into its curriculum during the session 2014-15. The ISA team members were felicitated in the school Assembly. The International School Award scheme (ISA) by the British Council aims at imparting knowledge through collaboration with a partner school abroad. Every project involved was related to the curriculum.

The projects were:

Every project had a teacher in charge, who was involved from the inception to the execution of the activities related of the project. Some of the activities had collaborations with schools abroad. A dossier was compiled by incorporating all the projects and submitted to the British Council. The British Council International School Award recognizes commitment to developing the qualities of global citizenship in young people. It is available to any school, recognizing different levels of achievement in international work. To gain the award, schools submit evidence of the impact of international strategies and activities. Getting involved with partner schools makes teachers and pupils take the good practices of the partner school. It enables teachers to adopt the best teaching practices and standards in other countries. The ISA logo demonstrates that our school has espoused international practices in the institution and have wholeheartedly embraced progressive teaching tools being used globally. The logo can be used in all the publicity materials, stationery, certificates, websites, almanac etc.

British Council International School Award 2012–15

The school has been successfully accredited with the ‘International School Award’ 2012-15 under the aegis of the British Council which is the United Kingdom’s International Organisation for Educational opportunities and Cultural relations.

The British Council has also awarded Kite mark as a logo to the school which can be used on our website, letter headed paper, prospectus, newsletters and other publications.

Now we can truly say that our students are well prepared to be Global Citizens of the World.

Indo–German Classroom Exchange Programme 2015–16

The project “Indo-German classroom” is supervised and funded by the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Goethe-Institut New Delhi/ Max Mueller Bhavan in common.In the second consecutive innings of 'Indo- German Classroom', students' exchange programme(2015-16),K.R. Mangalam World School, GK1 Kailash Colony, New Delhi, and the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Gymnasium, Chemnitz are working together on the project “Solar energy – to secure our future”.

This year, ten students from standard IX accompanied by two teachers, Mrs. Sunita Chaudhary and Mrs. Jahanvi Mishra visited Chemnitz, Germany from 1^stOctober to 11^thOctober, 2015.

The students and the teachers attended classes in the school to get a feel of the education system there. Furthermore, the students did a project work with their partners on intercultural communication problems.The group visited 'Solar World', in Freiberg, where they were shown the production of solar modules. They also visited themine 'ReicheZeche' where they got to wear some fancy orange or yellow overalls and gum boots.

AFS International Exchange Programme

AFS is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. AFS was created in 1914 and has been doing intercultural programs since 1947, currently present in more than 54 countries with over 11,000 exchanges per year.

Under the aegis of AFS India, K.R. Mangalam World School, GK1 is hosting Chiara Vezzoli, 17 years, from Brescia, Italy. She has come here for one year to be a part of India and she’ll be studying in K.R. Mangalam World School, GK1. She is here to experience the Indian culture, to know more and explore the true and inner side of India. Till now, she has made many new friends in the school, she interacted with the teachers, and she has already become a part of the school. She finds the Indian culture very different from the culture of Italy. She is trying her best to adjust with the environment here, the people and most importantly the weather here. She has come from Liceo Scientifico Niccolo Copernico, which is her school in Italy. She finds huge differences in her school in Italy and her new school in India. The students, teachers, studies, curriculum and activities vary a lot. She is excited to explore much more about the Indian culture in this one year, and take back as many memories with her as she can.

As part of the Project reciprocal visit, a group of seven students and two teachers from Chemnitz, Germany visited K.R. Mangalam World School, GK1 from November 9-21, 2014. To showcasethe rich cultural heritage of India, the itinerary of the group included a trip to the Taj Mahal, Humayun's Tomb, Red Fort, Raj Ghat, Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple and the Crafts Museum.

The students and teachers attended regular classes in the school to experience the school system here. The exchange allowed students to interact with and learn from people who are different yet similar to them and to participate in new, unique experiences beyond their own communities and cultures.

India–Australia School Exchange Programme

With an aim to give international exposure to students, we have tied up with Burredah Primary School, in Perth, Western Australia through the Australian High Commission’s AIE. The exchange programme aims to develop and expand understanding of Indian and Australian society, history, culture and education system. Through this we aim to enhance knowledge and understanding about school leadership and school management issues amongst the students of both the schools, in both countries. As a part of the programme Ms.Evans Margot EAL/D Team Leader (English as an Additional Language) from Burrendah Primary School, Australia came for a three day home stay. Ms. Evans Margot visited the school and interacted with the students and teachers. She found the students very disciplined and self-motivated.

She was particularly fascinated with the artwork done by the students. She shared the best practices in teaching English with the English language teachers Australia – India School Leaders Professional Learning Program Australian Government in collaboration with AEF and Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India sponsored this programme.

The aim of the programme was to develop and expand understanding of Indian & Australian society, history and culture and build knowledge and understanding of the Indian and Australian education system and foster the development of professional networks and school-to-school relationships between India and Australia. It was held in two phases- Phase I :– 14 April – 17 April 2014
